A Happy Medium
Kim Petro and Andy Stenerson have been collaborating on their ideas for years. Realizing the beauty of simple form and combining their appreciation for Italian Design, they devoted years of attention to colors and patterns. By constantly challenging themselves, they perfected and developed visual solutions that are unique to their esthetics. In their Brooklyn location, the artists built a hot glass studio where they have worked for eight years. Kim and Andy have a strong and established reputation in contemporary glass crafts. Their work is available in fine stores and galleries, and is represented by interior decorators.
Using their own adaptation of Venetian glass patterning techniques, this recent collection has been designed to combine colors and linear patterns while fusing the artists' own influence. The selection and interaction of color is deliberately conceived to inspire a reaction from the viewer. Our plaid pieces are made from colored canes that we create in our studio; by overlapping these colored canes in a very delicate process we give the pieces the illusion of being woven. To enhance the pattern we add a substantial amount of crystal, which creates an optical depth and shadow. Our intent is to make a piece of art that is fascinating and beautiful.
All work is made entirely of recycled hand blown glass and should be handled as you would any fine glassware. Elegant and decorative, they should be displayed alone. Care should be taken so as not to make contact with another glass object; this may result in a surface fissure that is not possible to repair.
