The Glasshouse Studio was founded in 1972 by Eric
Peder Brakken who has since retired. In March 1998 the studio's
artists/employees purchased Glasshouse, bringing a wide variety of
backgrounds and philosophies to the work. Their commitment to the craft
and each other have created this opportunity to design and produce one
of a kind and limited production editions of fine handmade glass. Their
modem designs incorporate additions of dichroic glass, gold leaf, air
bubble patterns, and various shards and powders made by the artists in
advance of blowing the final piece.
Mark Monson has backgrounds in two and three dimensional art
which allow him to combine a broad range of styles and motifs in his
work. His glass training began as an assistant to James Nowak, with whom
he spent three years before becoming a partner in the Glasshouse Studio.
